1. UGC - JRF - NET
The University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian national in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research. The Examination is conducted in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Educational Qualification
I. Candidates belonging to the General / Other Backward Classes who have secured at least 55% marks (without grace of rounding off in Master’s Degree (or equivalent) examination in Humanities (including languages) and Social Studies, Forensic Science, Environmental Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc., are eligible to appear for this examination. Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe category and Physically Handicapped/ Visually Handicapped candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without grace or rounding off) in Master’s degree (or equivalent) examination are eligible to appear in the NET examination.
II. Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s Degree examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examination have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF / Lectureship eligibility, only after they have passed the Master’s Degree examination (or) equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PH/VH candidates) within one year from the date of UGC-NET examination under consideration.
Age Limit and Relaxation
I. There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing only for eligibility for lectureship.
II. Applicants for Junior Research Fellowship should not be more than 28 years of age as on the first day of the month in which the NET Examination is to be held.
III. Age relaxation for JRF: Age relaxation up to 5 years is available to SC/ST/OBC/ Physically Handicapped (PH) Visually Handicapped (VH) Women candidates, Relaxation, up to a maximum of 5 years, supported by a certificate from appropriate authority, is applicable to the candidates for the period spent on research / training in the related/ relevant subject of post graduation. Candidates processing LLM. Degree are also permitted for relaxation in age up to a maximum of three (3) years. Total age relaxation on above grounds shall not exceed five (5) years under any circumstances.
Examination Schedule
The UGC conducts NET Examination twice every year, i.e., in the months June and December. The notifications announcing the June and December examinations are published in the months of March and September respectively in the weekly journal of nation -wide circulation-Employment news.
Scheme of Examination
The test will consist of three papers. Paper I will be of general nature intended to assess the teaching research aptitude of the candidate. It is primarily designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension and divergent thinking. Paper II will consist of questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. These paper will consist of a test booklet containing 50 objective type questions. Paper III will consist only descriptive type of questions from the syllabus of the subject selected by the candidate Paper III will be evaluated only for those candidates who are able to secure a minimum of such aggregate marks in Paper I & II such fixed by commission.

Value of Fellowship

2. CSIR - JRF- NET
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research holds national level joint CSIR-UGC-Examination (NET) normally twice every year, one in June and another in December. This examination is to determine the eligibility of Indian Nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for the appointment of Lecturers.
Eligibility
Educational qualification : Candidates who have scored at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in the Masters Degree Examination in the following are related subjects are eligible to appear the exam. Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.
A candidate who is appearing / has appeared in the final year M.Sc or on equivalent examination may also apply , admission subject to conditions.
Age limit :For JRF the minimum age requirement is 19 years as on July Ist / December Ist of the year of examination, the upper age limit 28 years and the same is relaxed five year for SC/ST/OBC, Physically Handicapped and female applicants.
For lectureship minimum age is 19 years and no upper age limit.
Scheme of Examination
The Examination consist of two paper. Paper I consists of two sections. Section A will have 30 questions on general information on science and its interface with society to test the candidates awareness of science, aptitude for reasoning and also a few questions from common elementray computer science. Section B will have 70 objective type questions from the subject area chosen by the candidates. Negative marking will be made for wrong answer.
Paper II will consist of questions requiring descriptive answers. The final result will be based on aggregate of marks secured in both the paper.

CSIR has introduced a new research fellowship in 2002 for the GATE qualified candidates with BE / BTech/ BArch/ BPharm degree to pursue research leading to Ph.D. This will be known as the GATE qualified Junior Research Fellowship (JRF-GATE). Scheme of Examination
The examination is of two hour duration. The number of questions vary every year . Generally the single paper consist of four section .The four sections in the CAT examination are,
1. Comprehension- This section requires examinees to read passages (about 700 words in length), following which these answer three to four questions relating to the passage.
2. Mathematics - This section has questions that deal with the basics of algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
3. Verbal - The ‘verbal’ section tests the grammatical and verbal skills of an applicant to check their understanding of the English language.
4. Data Interpretation - Popularity known as ‘DI’, this section tests the analytical and logical skills of examinees by seeing how well they interpret data which is in the form of graphs, charts and tables.

4. MAT (Management Aptitude Test)
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). There are more than 100 AICTE approved institutions and University departments accepting maT score. Usually maT is conducted twice in a year.

Basic qualifications for application is degree in any discipline.
Pattern of Exam
The exam paper consist of 200 questions that a student have to slove in 150 minutes. This is a five section paper. The five sections are 1. Reading Comprehension, 2. Quantitative ability, 3. Date analysis and Data sufficiency, 4. Intelligence and Critical reasoning, 5. General Knowledge.

5. JMET (JOINT MANAGAMENT ENTRANCE TEST)
This test is conducted for admission to Post Graduate Management courses offered by IITS and Indian Institute of Science Banglore. Currently IISc Banglore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras offer Master of Management (M.Mgnt) programmes.
Eligibility
Eligibility requirement for each institute varies. Generally the basic qualification is a Degree in Engineering Technology with first class or a P. G. in any discipline with first class from a recognised institution or University. (Eligibility varies with the courses offered by the institution.)
Pattern of Examination
The test will have 150 questions that a student have to answer in two hours. It is a four section paper. The four section are 1. Verbal, 2. Logical, 3. Quantitative Ability, 4. Data Interpretation.

Pattern of Examination
Entrance examination would consist of three papers with objective type questions and fourth paper – Aptitude Test for Architecture and Planning. The Aptitude Test is designed to evaluate candidate’s perception, imagination, observation, creativity and architectural awareness.
Scoring and Negative Marking
All objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) would carry three marks. For each correct response, candidate will get three marks. For each incorrect response one mark would be deducted. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet. The candidates are advised not to attempt such item in the answer sheet if they are not sure of the correct response. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.

The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10 +2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination. Pattern of Exam
From the year 2000, a reform has been introduced in the existing scheme of the examination. IIT-JEE will henceforth be conducted in two phases. Only those who qualify in the first phase, aptly termed the Screening Test, will be allowed to appear for the subsequent Main Examination. It is mandatory for candidates desiring to join B.Arch. and B.Design to qualify in a two-hour aptitude test at the counseling institutes. Separate merit lists of candidates belonging to the General and SC/ST categories are prepared. No waiting or extended list is prepared. There are independent cut-offs for each subject and also for the aggregate. The choice of examination centers and the IIT zone in no way influence allotment of the Institute and the course to be pursued.
Pattern of the examination
1. The 3-hour Screening Test consists of objective-type questions to be answered on a machine-gradable answer sheet using HB pencils only. The subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are given equal weightage.
2. In the Main Examinations, there are conventional questions in separate papers for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, each of 100 marks and 2 hours duration. It is held in the first week of May. Candidates can opt for question papers in English or Hindi and can answer the Main Examination in either of the following languages - Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

Academic Qualification : The minimum academic qualification for admission through JEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 system or its equivalent. Those appearing in 10+2 final or equivalent examination may also appear in JEE (Screening Test and Main Examination) for consideration of provisional admission.

9. GATE [Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering]
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an All - India Examination conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of technology and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India, Admission to Post Graduate Course, with MHRD Scholarship/ Assistantship, in Engineering/ Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy at Colleges / institutes will be open only to those who qualify in GATE. Some Colleges / Institutes specify GATE as mandatory qualification even for admission of self-financing students. Candidates are required to find out the procedure for selection and award of Scholarship / Assistantship from the Institution to which the candidates wish to seek admission. Some industries and foreign universities have indicated their interest in GATE qualified candidates. GATE qualified candidates in the Engineering disciplines are also eligible for the award Junior Research Fellowship in CSIR.

Pattern of AIPMT
AIPMT Examination consist of two stages (1) Preliminary Examination (2) Final Examination. The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions which covers the area of PCB. Duration would be 3 hours.
Those who pass the preliminary exam qualifies for the final Examination. It consists of two paper each of 2 hours duration. Paper I would contain questions from Physics and Chemistry and Paper-II would contain questions from Biology. The Final Examination will have non-objective questions.

Candidates can opt for question paper either in English or in Hindi

It can also obtained by sending a Bank Draft of Rs. 350 for General candidate and Rs. 200/ for SC/ST candidate drawn in favour of The Secretary, CBSE, New Delhi payable at New Delhi by posts along with a self addressed envelope of 12” x 10” size.
